When you stare at a star, far off in the distance, the haze between you and it causes the light to diffract and scatter, forming a corona. For this deep purple sugalite, its silver halo is textured, with dark shadows and bright highlights. Set upon a simple, highly-polished band.

Sugilite is a silicate mineral containing sodium, potassium and lithium. The distinctive deep pinks and purples are a results of manganese inclusions. It is a relatively rare material that has only been used by jewelers since around 1979.
