This unique piece of variscite has chunks of white floating in it, reminiscent of icebergs in a cold northern sea. It is set in a super shiny silver bezel and hangs on a wide tube-shaped bale. We recommend wearing it with a medium or long sized chain - your choice of 20 or 24 inch sterling silver.
sterling silver, fine silver, variscite
Variscite forms when water with small amounts of aluminum and phosphorus seeps down into the ground. As the water evaporates, the minerals remain, depositing turquoise in the rock's cracks and fissures. The bright green color of variscite is due to small amounts of chromium included in the stone's formation. It is often confused with turquoise, but it is more rare and uncommon.
