Little birds gathered around, placing this necklace around your neck... no, not really. But this does look like something your fairy godperson might give you to wear to the ball.
A teardrop-shaped green variscite is set together with a white topaz faceted stone, all on top of a darkened silver background. A few shiny silver granuals accent the piece. We recommend wearing this pendant on a small or medium sized chain - your choice of 18 or 20 inch sterling silver.
sterling silver, variscite, topaz
Variscite forms when water with small amounts of aluminum and phosphorus seeps down into the ground. As the water evaporates, the minerals remain, depositing turquoise in the rock's cracks and fissures. The bright green color of variscite is due to small amounts of chromium included in the stone's formation. It is often confused with turquoise, but it is more rare and uncommon.
Topaz is a very hard gem that comes in a variety of colors depending on what trace minerals are found within. Pure topaz is colorless but yellow, red, pink, purple, and even blue varieties are naturally found in nature. Many topaz stones are heat or chemically treated to change or enhance their natural color.
